    need help with x-4y=-7 and 7x-5y=20

    Add 4y to both sides of the first equation to gain the value of X. Substitute that value of X into the 2nd equation. Solve the final value of Y from the 2nd equation. This value of Y can now be subsituted into the first equation to gain the final value of X. Didn't you listen today?
