    Unprecedented achievement
That is what President Obama claimed he achieved in Copenhagen yesterday after he met privately with Brazil, China, India and South African leaders . But the BBC is saying in fact the deal is modest and is not the overall comprehensive agreement that was supposed to be negotiated at the meeting;and the deal could be rejected as a number of nations expressed "dissatisfaction" with the contents.
BBC News - Key powers reach compromise at climate summit

EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso told reporters: "I will not hide my disappointment regarding the non-binding nature of the agreement here.

"In that respect, the document falls far short of our expectations." However, he added that the EU would accept the US-led deal.
This so called unprecedented agreement consists of generalities about principles ,and goals, commitments and transparencies .But it does make a clear commitment of wealth transfers to the G-77 kleptocrats to the tune of $100 billion annually .How much U.S. taxpayer is expected to contribute to the $100 billion was not clear, but it could well be more than the $26 billion America spends on foreign aid each year already.

The President no doubts considers this a strong first step in his turning back the oceans. But the "agreement" is nothing more than a continuation of a developing trade war between the US and China that already involves steel, tires, chickens, pharma and now renewable energy systems. The Chinese are building and putting on line a new coal fired plant every week to 10 days. Obama's platitudes won't change that reality .

Copenhagen was not about AGW at all . It was a 2 week bash fest against capitalism and the United States (note the applause the demagogues received whenever they mentioned the evils of the two) . Obama went there for the big finale to say "thank you ;may we have another ? " But for him to call it unprecedented, when the agreement falls well short of the goal of a binding international treaty that would enslave capitalism in the name of the environment, is overstating his "accomplishment ".

Just declare victory and go home, it's all he's got. Nice touch with the Animal House reference, that's Obama foreign policy in a nutshell...

There is no accomplishment here, there is status quo essentially we will all go on doing what we were doing. Since CO2 has been removed as a direct measure in the equation we are free to hug a tree, tilt at windmills, or travel the land on the back of a donkey. I think the only thing historic is that you could have so many politicians in the same place and not have agreement. If these are our best and brightest then God help us because no one else will.

Yup, it was not about real science: It was about politics, grandstanding, and worldwide wealth redistribution. $100 billion every year for ten years - wonder where that is going to come from? Oh that's right FROM YOU THE TAXPAYOR. And who is this money going to? Currupt third world governments and dictators. Couldn't that money actually be used for REAL problems like malaria or aids or poor sanitation?

But then, Europe is no longer a free society. It is, in effect, a tyranny ruled by the unelected Kommissars of the European Union. That is perhaps one reason why police forces throughout Europe, including that in the UK, have become far more brutal than was once acceptable in their treatment of the citizens they are sworn to serve.
It is exactly this species of tyranny that the UN would like to impose upon the entire planet, in the name of saving us from ourselves – or, as Ugo Chavez would put it, saving us from Western capitalist democracy.
We say you can't steal $100b of our money based on a fraud to give it to Chavez;Mugabe et al . We say you can't take over 15% of the US economy .They say 'Yes we can'.

Obama changed his tune and now admits Copenhagen was a failure
President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that disappointment over the outcome of the Copenhagen climate change summit was justified, hardening a widespread verdict that the conference had been a failure.
“I think that people are justified in being disappointed about the outcome in Copenhagen,” he said in an interview with PBS Newshour. “What I said was essentially that rather than see a complete collapse in Copenhagen, in which nothing at all got done and would have been a huge backward step, at least we kind of held ground and there wasn't too much backsliding from where we were.”
