You should really start looking locally. There are certainly breeders in your area that could tell you if your dog should even be bred.
    Try:

    And:

I was very pleased in a recent thread that all 4 people that answered took a stand against breeding. Unfortunately we upset the person that asked the question enough to leave. We really shouldn't do that. There are people breeding dogs that shouldn't be, but nothing wrong with it if done responsibly. For more on that, see www.akc.com tre_cani gave you more help than I will be able to. Best I could do is suggest the ads in Dog Fancy magazine.

I would like to ask you to reconsider unless your dog truly is an example of a fine Dachshund that will produce quality puppies. And I ask for more than AKC titles. Is he a just plain nice dog? Good temperament, no bad habits like barking or marking in the house? Was he easy to housetrain and obedience train? I don't know common health problems in Dachshunds other than back problems often worse for being overweight. At 3 years old, he is old enough to have had many problems develop. Have you researched possible problems and found his lines to be free of the common ones?

Do you plan to ask the same questions when you do find a female?

In general society is doing a poor job educating people about responsible breeding. You are not to be faulted for being typical of our society.

I would say locate your local kennel club. Also, are you a member of The Dachshund Club of America? See here www.dachshund-dca.org/

If you want to breed then here are 10 good reasons specific to Dachshunds, but really any purebreed dog http://www.canismajor.com/dog/reason10.html!

PS. Did you know dogs can carry STD's? Have your dog and they other checked prior to breeding.
