Found uncashed expired check from Mortgage company that has been reorganized
I recently found an uncashed check in a drawer. It is for $4,000. It is for a refund on a refinance of my home that I still own. It expired 2 years ago in 2007. It is from a mortgage company that has been reorganized (Ameritech). How can I get the Mortgage company or bank to honor it. Please tell me that I am not the only person who has tucked unopened mail in a drawer and forgotten about it.

Hi! Sonni6335, welcome to AMHD :)

Call Ameritech, and talk to someone in the records department explain the situation, and they should be able to cut you a new check.

I had one with prudential that was 4years old, and they honored it.

Just make sure you talk to a financial officer.
