    More than one active lease
My brother is going through a divorce and is trying to get settled in an apartment. He was recently told by a leasing agency that WA state law prohibited him from being on more than one lease at a time. He wants his own place, but has a lease for his ex for the next 7 months. He can well afford both. Is it a law for WA state that you can only be on one lease at a time?

No, he has not checked with others yet. He really liked this place, and so we wondered if it was there rule, or really a law. Netiher of us had ever heard of it.

    Hello F:

Nahhh... If you want to rent a house in Seattle, a ski chalet in Winthrop, and a beach house in Friday Harbor, ALL at the same time, there's NO law that prevents that.

I have a student housing house. I require a $200 non-refundable lease deposit within 15 days of signing the lease (in this case it was due March 15). A $300 secutity deposit due June 1, and the rent less the lease deposit due August 28. I have a student that signed the lease, but never sent...
