Girlfriend's dentist broke drill in her tooth
Hi my girlfriend just saw her dentist for a root canal procedure and the titanium drill bit broke off and is now stuck inside of her tooth. She has to see a specialist tomorrow to have it removed and we're both really worried about the whole situation. Does anybody have some insight on a circumstance like this that could perhaps put us both at ease? Thanks.

Sometimes this happens and is part of the risk of doing root canals... EVERY dentist that does root canals regularly will break a file in a canal eventually. The important thing to do now is go to the specialist who can fix the problem one way or another (by removing it or doing root surgery)... if it CANNOT be removed sometimes its best to monitor it and if the tooth acts up it may IN RARE cases need to be extracted... but for now just let the specialist do his/her thing and it should work out fine

As Amir said these things can and do happen. Just sit tight, let the specialist assess the tooth and offer his/her expertise.

I'm located in South Korea and I've had a really bad tooth for a while so I decided to take advantage of the national health care and see a dentist about my tooth. I was informed that I needed a crown and "nerve treatment". From the tools that the dentist was using I recognized the files as the...

Wisdom tooth only halfway extracted by dentist... is this normal? [ 1 Answers ]

I recently had three wisdom teeth pulled. They came through the gum like molars, so I was told they were able to be pulled. I had x-rays, etc. before the procedure. My top two came out fine. My dentist told me that part of the root was still in my jaw, but would be OK. She then tried to pull out my...
