My boyfriend of four months has a son who's turning two in about two weeks, and I need some input on a birthday present.

I am naturally very horrible with presents, but this time I have some vague ideas what he might like:

1) :) He LOVES animals. His favorite toy is a puzzle like this (( http://bowjamesbow.ca/images/animal-puzzle.jpg )), only with barnyard animals on it. It's a toy he's outgrown, but he loves it. He plays with it every time I see him. He uses it to practice his colors, animal names, animal sounds, and counting. I'd like to find something similar, but more age-appropriate.

On the subject of other typical options:

2) :( Trucks: He has trucks, but I never see him playing with them. He just doesn't seem interested. He prefers taking all of his trucks and piling them on top of my lap, or on the dog.
3) :confused: Books/movies: He likes books, but he's not interested in sitting down to listen to me read-- at least not yet. He likes to point at the pictures and say the words. He's not always interested in sitting to watch TV, unless it's Yo Gabba Gabba.
4) :) YOOOOOOOOOO GABBA GABBA!! **downside: this is probably what everyone else is thinking too, because it's his favorite show, and Daddy's obsessed too :rolleyes:.**
5) :confused: If you can think of an activity/park/show/etc that a two year old might be interested in, I would consider getting tickets (or "tickets").

If you can think of a toy that might fit the description, let me know what it is or where I might find it-- if you are suggesting a specific store, I live in the CT/MASS area. THANK YOU anyone with input!

Do you plan on letting some of the invited guests know what he likes? Doing so could take some of the pressure off you as to what to give him. It does sound like you're very ambitious and want the party to be a real success! I also hope that you're getting help with the planning and decorating for the party!

*shrug* I said in the very first sentence of my post that this was a question about buying gifts.

Omgtoast. You said that he likes animals. Does he like stuffed animals?

My kids adore webkins. They're wonderfully made stuffed animals, they come in three different sizes, the biggest ones being for toddlers then the other two sizes being for older kids.

The wonderful thing about these pets is that they come with a code. There's a webkins website, you log on, enter the code and adopt your pet, name it and then care for it. You can "buy" your pet stuff for his/her room by playing educational games that are set up for different age groups.

Of course you can also buy accessories "real ones" for this pet. There are carrying bags, clothes, creams, you name it.

They're not very expensive, at least here in Canada, and there are all different types of animals to choose from, dogs, cats, birds, fish, horses, the sky is the limit.

My kids love them, so do their friends.

The birthday party was Friday. I got him something like this:

I saw it at Toys R Us and I couldn't resist. I remember he was playing with a marble rollercoaster like that the last time we went to a toy store all together, and he loved it.

It's ages 3+, so I called my boyfriend up first to get his Daddy Opinion. He's not one to put things in his mouth, so as long as we watched him when he played with it it was all right.

Anyway... Long story short HE LIKED MY PRESENT BEST YAY :D:D:D. He was playing with it for a solid hour before he knocked it down Godzilla-style to put it away again in the box.

That made me ridiculously happy.
Thank you Altenweg for your suggestion. I felt a lot better about toy shopping knowing I had some ideas to back up on if I was still stumped.
