What is the space above the stage called?
My question is... what is the space above the stage called?

In a theatre you have the stage and then you have space on either side of the stage for people to come on... then you have all the space above the stage where a lot of lighting and sound technology is stored, sometimes they even lower things from this space onto the stage...

Also what is the name of the side area either side of the stage?

I am doing the international baccalaureate atm and I do Theatre Arts as a subject. Anyway for one of the projects we have to create a full performance pitch portfolio... and in my proposed performance I have sets that are mechanically maneuvered on and off stage and I needed to know what to call the fly gallery (as I now know it is called)

So, are you supposed to work with a situation where there's a fly gallery?

    Thanks!

Would you get more credit if you created more than one scenario as far as the capabilities of the stage?

    Thanks!

I'm just trying to help you with your studies so that you'll get the best credit that you can. I've also been a teacher for many years as well as have been in over 45 musical threater productions, on and off the stage.

    Thanks!

Please let me know if you have further questions. I'll be glad to help! I've been doing stuff on the stage for a very long time...

    Thanks!
