    Historic Property Values
    How would I go about finding the evaluation of a property back in January of 2009? My brother and I inherited a property back then, rented it for awhile and sold it this year. Need to know the past evaluation for tax purposes.

    Perhaps the executor of the estate has a figure that would have been used for estate tax filing (if either a federal or state estate tax return was required).

    Otherwise, you can hire a property appraiser - he would give you a written appraisal using January 2009 comparables, which would satisfy the IRS.
