Spell check not working correctly after upgrade to 3.5

Ok... just now I am having a new problem, when I get a misspelled word it is underlined in red. When I right click on it it always gave me 'spell check and or other options. Now I am getting the unlined word, but when I right click... nothing shows up. No 'spell check', no 'copy', no 'paste', etc or any other options.

I use Firefox and have for years, I decided to try it on Microsoft Word, it still works fine there..?

Could this be because of changes or something that AMHD is doing? I know that Rpray said that you will be working on the site tonight...

Stringer (Hopefully I haven't misspelled any words... )

    Sounds like a browser issue.
Could well be an extension that isn't working correctly.

Make sure you have the correct dictionary installed then try unchecking check spelling as I type ( tools > Options > Advanced > general tab).
Restart FF and go back and check the spelling box.

    HI Ben,

I did this and restarted Firefox, it didn't help. I still have the red line under my miss spelled word and when I right click... nothing, very annoying.

So what is left? An extension that is not working? I did just install the latest FireFox update, I believe that it was 3.5 but I am not sure presently if that number is correct (3.5).

Can you suggest anything that will correct the extension if that is possible?

    Thanks,

    Stringer

    Very odd indeed.

I would check your add-ons, especially the installed dictionary.

    Tools > Add-ons.

Extensions has a find updates button.

Ps I moved this to it's own thread ;)

    Thanks Ben,

'Add-ons' > 'Extensions' doesn't have anything listed there for Firefox... only Google, Stumble, etc. What exactly would I be looking for please?

    Should look like the attached.
As you can see I have highlighted the installed dictionary.

This may well be the issue.

Go and get the appropriate dictionary for your location..
    They are available here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3

I added the US Dictionary Ben with spell check and the spell check on AMHD still doesn't work... damn... However it does work in Word?

This happened after I installed the update for Firefox 3.5, somehow it has to have something to do with that I think, but I am at a loss trying to figure it out.

    Any other suggestions or ideas?

    Okay...

Spell check, pasting, copying... none of it is working on AMHD. This is really getting to me. :(

Especially since it works fine everywhere else... help.

Not a computer whiz, I am sure though that it has something to do with the FireFox Update 3.5, this happened right after I installed it.

Is there something else I can do to correct this?

Can you try a different browser and see if it works there.

    Thanks Ben.

I tried that, went to Explorer and it won't even let me log in, telling me that I am using the wrong 'name?'

    Damn.

I know vB has an issue with capital letters at the start.
Even my password brings up that warning message and I don't use the capital on my username. Usernames don't "care", but passwords do.

    Give that a try.

Did you do a "simple" upgrade from 3.x to 3.5 or a clean reinstall?

Explorer already had my password listed '... ' For my username I tried it with a small 's' and again with a capitol 'S'... (stringer), still no.

I upgraded and was told to re-boot, which I did, so I suppose it was a reinstall but I will have to check. If 3.0 still shows as being there should I uninstall 3.0?

In all honesty, I would be inclined to completely reinstall 3.5.

Back up your favorites and then remove 3.5.
Run CCleaner reg cleaner and reboot and reinstall.

It sounds like a previous extension may be the cause of your problems.
I had something similar happen when I restored my 3.0.x onto a 3.5 install.
    Cause a major head ache.

    Thanks Again Ben.

What I did was uninstall FF 3.5.2 and reinstalled FF 3.0.8 and at this moment it seems to be OK again. I checked the spell check, paste, etc and it works now...

I am just curious if I have all the security updates for this version? I went to the site and couldn't find where to do any updates. If I downloaded it today, it should have all the updates current... right?

    Thanks bud.

    Here's FF 3.0.13, last before 3.5..

    Download Firefox 3.0.13 - Download - FileHippo.com

As you have no extensions installed, it might be worth installing 3.5.2.

I installed the 3.0.13 and I checked, all seems to be fine.

I think that I am going to stay away from 3.5 in general until I feel it is OK.

Although I still can not log in on Explorer... but I use FF as my default anyway... so...

    Thanks for your help Ben.

Explorer gave me trouble with my msn /hotmail when I started using Firefox, I just assumed that it maybe a rivalry thing between the two companies, not letting us use both programs in the same PC.(talk about being paranoid!)

It didn't matter, love Firefox way more than Explorer anyway.:p

Yep, me too Firm. And I believe that FF is more secure than Explorer also.
