    Tanya ,

Asians, South Americans and black people ALL have the same problem.. No matter how fair you are.. certain parts of the body especially near the genitalia are darker..

You are not alone.. Rest assured !

Lol... if you are able to tan really well then most likely you will not have even skin. Our skin is much lighter when we are younger, but then being outside so much especially not using sunblock will cause this. If the rest of me was as light as other lighter areas of my body then I would be near yellow... or shall I say golden.

tanyaa - honestly I wouldn't know what to recommend to you to get you to even out...

Because I am currently using monobenzone and its not evening nothing..! Not working for me

I was using benzyl before and it did not work

Hydroquinone apparently gives you nice lightening albeit temporary, however, it does not even out the skin patterns as per peoples inputs...

You just have to start on some effective lightening agents and carry on.. IN due course of time I believe something may help... Just like us it's the trial and error method babes... Whatever works for you is a blessing What doesn't needs to be replace immediately /

Yeah me too, for some reasons those area of the body becomes darker as well which is also common for people who have more melanin. I know that the skin is thicker there so I'm unsure if that has anything to do with it. I would like to lighten my whole body evenly, but unsure what will do this as I am searching too.

I briefly heard of laser permanent lightening recently. A few months back I had called many dermatologists about skin lightening treatments, creams, or something that will help lighten. But, they all had discouraged me as well and also said that they have nothing that will do that. So, I'm thinking there are spas that can help achieve overall lightening? I will have to continue searching for more info on it.

I would see the dermatologist if I were you and see what they have to say. All Derms aren't the same and may assist you with your goal. Because they definitely know what can make you lighter, you just have to find a way of encouraging them to spit out that information.

B00tyfu7, I have read many good things with the Obagi brand which contains Hq 4%, I'm sure there are other good brands that also contain Hq or if you are interested in formulating your own Hq or mono? I do not know of any reputable retailers as I do not use Hq or Mono. But, some of the other members will be more knowledgeable in those areas, as I am still learning about Hq.

    tanyaa,

Just curious to know where you are living. I live in the uk and feel that here, skin lightening is not as progressive as in the US, where maybe you would meet a more sympathetic dermatologist. I may be wrong. I would be interested to know.

I would love to be located in the far east in places like Japan etc, where skin lightening is not such a dirty word.

Even in india, it has a massive market demand for this.

I agree Maharani, in the far east like Japan their would be ample amounts of services in this area, and I say more safe alternatives as well. There lightening there is like our tanning here in the States. I believe States such as California and maybe even New York has more services in this area. I had called around last summer to several good dermatologists in my area and they all said they did not know of any way to lighten, they did mention one crème that I think contained maybe 2-4% Hq. But it wasn't Obagi or the likes.

Thanks Neptuno for the link! I will definitely be checking it out today :)

Tanyaa, sorry that your Derm. Discouraged you, I guess one of the reasons could be that he was trying to look out for your best interests? But, he could have at least recomened 4% Hq and 0.025% Tretinoin as some derms can prescribe this but maybe mainly for sun spots, acne, and the like instead of a complete skin lightener. Have you considered attempting to cound your own active lighteners along with a good base crème? This is a good option to also consider as I think I will be giing it a try this fall once I purchase the equipment needed. I am also considering trying a large bottle of the 55h+ Cristalline Glycerine as Brown Deceit has had great success with this and it is free of hq, steroids, and mercury. Also, the Fair and White Gel Crème Exclusive Whitenizer for the face which many people say it gives great results (but does contain Hq). And also maybe Likas papaya soap since I heard so many good things about it. I am unsure about the rest of the Fair & White products if they work or not.

Also we can keep in mind that spas also have services to help lighten the skin, though I am unsure how well it works on brown skin but would be something to consider if your willing to pay more cash for it.

And it's good that you were trying to go down the safe option route, by consulting an expert. It's a shame that he did not understand and just turned you away basically.

Did he charge you for the consultation? It may be that you have to try a different derm. You may find a more sympathetic one. Otherwise, it just means doing your own research and trial and error with products.

I personally have found forums like this really helpful in terms of discussing what works and what doesn't and have saved time and money by avoiding harmful and useless items. Hopefully you will have the same experience.
