Talked to the place I got the furnace and they told me that the motor was bad but under warranty. Picked up a new motor but the same problem? The told me to take the capactor out a tape the leads together to see if the fixed the problem but it didn't. Should I try a new capactor? Or something else? I don't live near the heating company so I can't have them come out to check it.

Tested motor amps on high speed it's pulling 17 amps medium speed 10 amps and low speed 8 amps but the motor still is very hot. Can't test the capacitor with my meter. If the capacitor is bad will this cause the motor to pull high amps or run hot? The motor starts and blower takes off with no problem. 734-652-3148 thanks for your help. Motor tag amp rating is 8 amps but at high speed it's running 17 amps is this normal.

Nope. ALWAYS replace motor and cap together.

Sounds within range. IF capacitor was bad, motor would draw to many amps. 17 amps was way to high. Sounds like you have the problem fixed, good job, and let us know if it overheats again. Lee.
