Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

    Something new?

    Still in warranty?

does not detect the DVD/CD Rom Drive
    Where does it not detect?
-Is it seen in windows explorer?
-have you tried to possibly put in any disks that have an autorun to see if it will autorun?
-does the light turn on and the drive spin when disc is inserted?
-have you restarted the PC recently?
    -when last time worked?
-have you tried multiple cd/dvd discs?

Is the drive listed in device mgr?
    -right click on My Computer
    -choose properties
-go to hardware tab and then click device mgr
-is cd rom drive listed there? If so, what is listed under cd rom drives?
-are there any yellow marks in device mgr.

I found this fix that has worked for some people on this particular model - DV6000 (I have seen same fix below work for other computers as well)

Is below what you have already tried when you mentioned
"I even use Microsoft fix it to correct it"

    This involves a registry edit:

    Using the Registry Editor
If you are not comfortable with editing the registry, I would not recommend but suggest to have a friend or someone you know and trust to make these changes. It is a minor edit but still would not recommend if not comfortable.

    Upperfilters/LowerFilters
-Follow the steps under Let Me Fix it Myself
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

If this is what you have already done and your drive disappears again every so often, this would indicate that there is a software installed on your PC that effects the upper/lower filter.

-Software that does affect these settings are CD burning types of programs

Do you use any type of burning software on a regular basis or software that does involve the use of the CD drive?
-Could be a program like Nero, Roxio, and others
