It seems to me if you have enough technical skill to get here and post your question, then you have what it takes to do some research on the topic and weed through it yourself, hmmmm? :D

I am happy to help unstick someone sincerely stuck in their homework or project, but not do it for them.

Here are a few angles for consideration:

How dressing etiquette has changed over time
How dressing etiquette differs in different countries
What significant role dressing etiquette plays in (fill in the blank)
How dressing etiquette does or does not follow fashion

    Get your thinking cap on!

Here are the tips that I would give:

Proper fit - clothes that are too tight or too loose never look ladylike.

Seasonally appropriate - just use common sense to avoid linen in the winter and wooly turtlenecks in the warmer months. Also, don't show too much skin in the winter.

Consider who will be there - are you dressing to be with girlfriends or grandma's friends?

Lastly, build your wardrobe on a small foundation of investment pieces with classic styling made well from high quality fabric. Keep current by adding trendy items, but following trends requires work to keep up, but classics are always in style!
