I have a UPS(Inverter) of 600 Watt from which I am running 4 fans (60 Watt each) and 10 energy saver bulbs (13Watt each). 2 Lead Acid batteries (used in cars) of 12volts 60Amp and 65Amp each are connected in parallel. After 3 months the UPS kept on charging batteries and 1 of the batteries (65Amp) got very heat up. So when checked one of the batteries (65Amp) got dead i.e. one of it's 6 cells got dry. Can anyone tell me what is the reason that this battery got dead while the other one is still working fine even after 1 year.

Now I want to buy 1 big battery (used in buses) so that it'll be easier for me to do maintenance in which after every month I've to put water in it. There are many brands available in our market (Pakistan (country)) i.e. Volta, Osaka, AGS, FB, Exide, some shopkeepers say Volta is good some say Exide is good, some people say FB or AGS is good, so I don't know which 1 to buy. Can you please also tell me whether I should buy 150Amp Lead Acid battery for my 600Watts UPS or 200Amp battery for the same UPS (Actually inverter). In our country 220Volts are used just as in UK and not 110 Volts.

Someone told me that he is using Volta battery and he puts water in it after every 2 or 3 days. But I used to put water in my Exide batteries after a month and someone else I know used to put water in his AGS battery after 3 months.

Please tell me how can I decide that which lead acid battery is good. Prices of all are almost same. Excid is old.

Can you please also tell me from where can I get you newly launched maintenance free battery and what is the cost of that battery and is it really Lead Acid battery.

The charging circuit is overcharging the cell. The cell might have been shorted out. Basically, it got hot and boiled off the electrolyte.

You want a battery with a high amp-hour rating. I believe this is what you mean by the "amps" rating (cranking amperes). Therefor, you would be better off buying the 200 amp battery. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with your brands except Exide. Be sure that the output voltage of the battery is the same as the batteries you are replacing! Some buses use 24 volt batteries.

The batteries should be rated at the same voltage as the batteries they are replacing. The fact that you use 220 volts instead of 110 volts means that your inverter must be able to run at 220 volts. The output voltage of the inverter (to the batteries) would be the same.

Actually, you only need to add water as frequently as required to keep water above the top of the plates inside the battery.

I'm afraid I can't help you here. If it says "lead-acid" on the case, it probably is a lead-acid battery. Maintenance-free batteries aren't really that much different from other lead-acid batteries. They simply have more electrolyte above the cells. The hope is that the liquid in the battery will not boil off and that at the end of the battery's life, there will still be liquid in the battery. For your application, you probably are better off with a battery to which you can add water.

Also, for your last question, I suggest you ask the people you know about it. You said that they told you about how often they refill their battery. Why not ask what they think is the best battery, why their preference towards such and such battery. Of course, you may (and surely) have advantages of using that or that battery, but receiving many different views on the batteries available sure will help you making a decision.
