Pros and cons of cartilage piercing
I'm trying to convince my parents to let me get a cartilage piercing for my birthday, and they say that they want the pros & cons of getting it done. I have moderately sensitve ears. I think by what I've heard that I'm getting it done by ( needle ) because its more sanitary. :)

No matter what method of having it done, the conditions and materials used should be sanitary!

I don't know if I have any real pros of having it done other than it making you happy.

One major con is that it tends to take a little longer to heal than lobe piercing.

There are many cons when it comes to cartilage piercings; Irritation, infection, rejection, migration, hypertrophic scarring, keloids. If taken care of properly, none of these cons should occur. Medically speaking there are no positives to piercing any hole into your body, but as nikosmom said "I don't know if I have any real pros of having it done other than it making you happy".

    Good luck.

I guess you could say a pro is, this is something that could teach you resposibilty. Or that if you get it peirced it satisfies your peircing needs and you won't go out when your 18 and go crazy with peircings.

Hello, don't know if I'm too late to answer this question but... I got mine done about 4 months ago, and then a week ago I got a second done right below, one with needle one with gun. I must say go for needle! The gun puts a lot or pressure on the cartilage and it hurts much more. I kind of just asked my mom and she was like okay... and for my lip it took a little more... just ask them why they don't want you to have it... and then come up with a good answer:P hah if that makes sense:P
