    Pulsating water flow.
Help! My water flow all over the house began pulsating a couple of weeks ago. I am also getting "orange" sediment which normally only happens for a day or two after an unusually heavy rainfall. We have had more rain than usual (we're an inch above average) but only enough to keep me off my motorcycle. :( We're not flooded. I am on a well and can't get into the pump house without help. So if I need to look at the pump, I'm going to have to call a plumber. Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help!

Sounds like a bad pressure tank or pressure switch. Im assuming tank and switch are located in pump house, so unless they are located in your home you will need to get into the well house. Pulsating is usually cuased by pressure switch kicking on and off quickly. This is usually cuased by a water logged pressure tank, but can also (sometimes) be a worn out pressure switch. My bet is the pressure tank is in need of replacement. Do you know what type pressure tank you have?

    Dear Mygirlsdad77:

Thanks so much. I'll have to call the plumber as now that I've read your answer, I remembered that my pump house has been "clicking" when the water is running and the electricity surges in time with the pulsating water. Switch it probably is. Thanks again. I feel better knowing what you've told me.

    Dear Lee:

You were spot on! My tank is bad and full of water and my switch looks like the Flinstones' plumber installed it. He's coming back in the morning to replace the whole kit and kaboodle. OUCH!

    Thanks again.

Im sure your plumber will do a great job, sorry it had to be done, but now it should last you for years to come. Trust me, if he redose the whole setup, it will save you in the long run. Take care.
