I broke NC, but it worked out well (results not typical)!
Well here's a bit of a different story. I work for an online videogame company and I am given the game currency to purchase items in game as compensation for my volunteer work. I was going to go on a buy some items for a friend of mine, since I don't really play the games any more (I just moderate the forums and run small events from time to time). I thought I had about 6000 AP (60 bucks worth of currency) but as it turned out I only had 47 AP (47 cents worth)!
After checking the transaction history (thankfully they keep a record of every purchase) I found that over the past week someone had accessed my account and spent all my money! Now, there's only one other person who had my password - my ex. And like an idiot, I never changed my password for this game company (I did for everything else, I just didn't think this account was that important).
So, I contact the producer of the game, send in a report of what happened, and basically would have had to wait until tomorrow evening for an answer. But, I figured there was only one other person who would know what happened, and even if she hadn't taken the items she would have at least known how they went missing.
So I called and left a voicemail, and sent a few texts describing the situation and asking if she knew anything about it. She texted back "I don't know who I'm texting but I'm driving and can't talk right now." So I let her know it was me, basically asked her if she took it, and didn't expect to get a response at all so I went to bed.
An hour later or so I got a text back from her, confessing that she took the items. I asked her why, and she said it was because I wasn't using it and she wanted one of the new pets. I tried to call her, of course she didn't answer. I told her I deserved an explanation, and she said she didn't want to talk to me. So, I basically told her through texts that whatever shred of caring I may have had for her was now gone, just the whole gamut of stuff. Finally she texts be back to leave her alone and do whatever with the character. I respond "I was leaving you alone, and you stole from me. Who knows what else you stole, or tried to. You're worthless. You stay out of my life."
You know, maybe I sound like a jerk, but I feel a million times better for saying that. I let her manipulate me to where I always felt like the bad guy, that nothing was ever good enough. Finally, she showed me her true colors. Now I know that even a friendship is never going to possible, because before this I still did care about her. Not enough to try dating again, but still enough to be able to talk to her. Now, I want nothing to do with her.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my story. This is basically the final chapter of the book about my first love. Maybe I should actually make a novel out of it... lol :P
