    Free eye examine and glasses
I live in Pawnee Rock Ks. And I have no income, I don't qualify for medicare or social security. Is there any organization that will help me get glasses. They are six years old and I can hardly see through them. I can't get a job because I can't see that good through them.
    Thank you

If you have no income, you should be able to get medicaid.
No income means you are poverty level. That should qualify you for medicaid.Have you applied?

You can not get Medicaid if you are not sick and medicaid does not provide for vison or dental help to adults period. Medicaid only provide for medical and they don't see that vison and dental is medical. I know this because I am on medicaid. Thank s Kimberlyga36

    I'm sorry, this is incorrect.

There are number of different things that can qualify a person for medicaid. And they do offer vision and dental in some states.

Just because you have one set of circumstances that cause YOUR benefits to be the way they are doesn't mean that's the standard. The benefits are customized to the person's needs as they see fit.

To correct some very poor advice, you do not have to be sick, to get medicaid, merely meet specific income guidelines, It is used for many medical needs. The program is administrated by the state so each state will offer different programs and coverages.

For example in GA a couple can have income of 1011 a month

It is purely a income based program

    Free Eye Exams and Glasses
My only income is my husband's disability from the V.A. I am in need of an eye exam and new glasses. Where can I go for exam and glasses at little or no cost. Our income is less than 1300.00 a month and after living expenses there is nothing left.

    Hi, Santee12!

Have you seen the following sticky note by one of our wise members and Vision Expert, ChihuahuaMomma?

    https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/vision...ms-173693.html

STICKY NOTE on Free Glasses and Exams?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really think that this needs to be addressed. There needs to be a sticky note providing help to the people who ask OVER and OVER again the same question.

"Where can I get free glasses and an exam?"

    1. Contact your local Lyons Club and seek a voucher from them to obtain this free exam and glasses. They will give you the name, address, and phone number to a provider that can do this for you.

    2. Seek state-assisted medical/vision plans. Contact your local welfare/Human services office.

    3. Find your local Lenscrafters, and ask about their "Home Town Day".

    4. If you are not BROKE, but just pinching pennies, look around at Lenscrafters, Binyon's, and Sears Optical for good deals. They always have something going on. And all of them have great deals on children's glasses.

**Good luck to you and yours**Wishing you the best of health and happiness**

Also, has he contacted the VA about glasses? A lot of them offer free exam and glasses to veterans.
