    Computer clock running slow
:)My computer time idicater reading has just recently started to read two hours slow on the display. I reset it, and it will read OK for a short time then resume to read two hours slow again. How do I correct this? Is it a clock battery wearing out or?

This is a symptom of a dying CMOS battery. This battery looks like a large round watch battery on your computer's motherboard. Depending on your proficiency with computers you can often replace it by yourself.

Is it possible that you set up Windows with the wrong time zone information? Right-click on the system tray (bottom right hand corner where the time shows), select Adjust Date/Time, click on Time Zone tab to check the setting.

    Hi,
I agree with the previous answer. If your computer clock only reads two hours slow, not an hour, or if it doesn't continue to "slow down" gradually, then the CMOS battery probably isn't bad.
If bad, it will continue losing time, like be 2 hours slow, then 2hrs 15 min, etc, etc.
    Best of luck.

Well here is another twist. I found my laptop clock running slow and I googled for a solution. In the end I found the solution myself. I was traveling out of the country to a different time zone. Naturally the Company network people weren't there to help me so I was on my own. I remembered I changed the clock to the time zone I was in. But I was connected to my email server through VPN. So my computer clock was an hour ahead while the server clock was trying to synchronize with my laptop setting it slower.

Setting my laptop clock time zone to EST, where my Company is located, solved the problem.
