    Is the Linux kernel open source?
    Is the Linux kernel open source? I heard on NPR today that Linus Torvalds is the only person who has access to the source code of the kernel.

    The linux kernel is fully open source, distributed under the GNU GPL.

    What is this "NPR" that you refer to?
