While ENTs are great, and may help with this situation, it would be best to get a referral to an ENT and then maybe a gastroenterologist.
Realize that ENTs only deal with the head and neck. This may be a problem that is in the esophogas or further down closer to the stomach.
As you said Joe, the ENT looked in the back of your throat, and boy did you ever have a BAD case of reflux, the ENT usually stops his work in/around the neck area.
IF this is acid reflux, the reflux is caused by gastric juices that are much deeper than an ENT can handle. The esophogas may be narrow and need to be widened, which was my particular case.
As Pumpkin stated it also could be psychological in nature.
