How Do I get involved in volunteer or charity work?
I want to get involved for a good cause. Any good cause really. But the small town I am in has no big organization that I could volunteer through. Does any one have any good suggestions for volunteer or charity work?

    Hi, ConfusedMother9!

If there is a school nearby, maybe you and some others could offer to tutor students one or more days during the week. I used to volunteer to do that.

    Thanks!

    Hi confusedmother,

You could always join a charity on line anywhere in the world.

You get to have you say, sign petions on various things.

    Sponsor children/animals/wild animal etc

You'll get photos updates on how your sponsored child or animal or what ever the chosen project is, sent to your mailbox.

Why not start a charity all of your own.

    Depends on what activity,

You can help at a senior center
    A nursing home.
A lot of small towns may have a clothes collection place or even a food pantry, often you will have to ask they don't put up signs.

Find a elderly or disbled person and just see if you could, mow their yard, or wash their windows, or something even change some light bulbs in their home.

Here is a link that you can use to find volunteer opportunities in your area and they match your volunteering to your areas of interest. All you need to do is enter your zip code. Good luck!

    A nursing home is great
You could volunteer to help with arts and crafts or activities.

If you are interested in organizations that are not local to you these are some of my favorites

Try a hospital in your area. I used to do volunteer work there. When I signed up I had to have 3 references and they called all 3. I was placed throughout the hospital and after being there for a while I took a training course there for 6 months to be a crisis volunteer for rape victims.

Sadly, after my schedule changed I couldn't do it anymore but I loved doing what I did whie I was doing it.
