Not able to save ro save as
Hi there well the problem is in word I cannot use the save button on the tool bar and the file save or save as must be reset before I can use them by going to Tools - Customize and the rearrange commands tab then reseting the save and save as commands but this will only last for an hour then I will need to do it again or when I open a document I need to do it again.
I wonder if anyone has seen this before or know a fix for it? Thank you for your help?

Maybe you should call the company that manufactors word to figure it out. If you cant, try getting them to give you a new one for free since their product doesn't work. This has happened to me before with another program, and I was able to obtain a new, free one.
I hope this helps.

What model PC do you have and what OS are you running? Do any of the other toolbar icons work or is it just save and save as that stop working? Have you installed any updates recently? Do you get any errors when you press them or do they just not respond?

I did a search and didn't come up with anyone having this specific problem. If it's just one PC experiencing this, I would try reinstalling Word or the Office Suite. I believe it will give you the option to "repair" instead of doing a full re-install.

Mdosh,
He doesn't have the CDs which really limits his repair options.

NOTE: There are CDs everywhere. Everyone has them. Borrowing someone else's CDs is not a copyright infringement as that is only "transfer media". The OP need only insure he reinstall using his OWN "key".
He can often read the "key" off the authenticity label on his own computer.
If he doesn't have his own "key" either, he can retrieve that directly from his own machine. I've used a couple of "keyfinders" myself when I'd misplaced my "install book".

Good ideas I will give them a go and I think I might have a way to do the install. But I will see if anyone has another CD for me to use
