    Error code 31
I have a carrier furnace flashing error code 31 which states:
31-Pressure, draft safeguard, or auxiliary limit (when used) switch did not close or reopened.
    How do I fix it?

Turn off power to unit, then back on. Observe unit for the next 5 minutes - what runs, what does the LED do, etc. Post the results.

I turned off power for about 10 minutes or so then turned back on, everything is working like its suppose too. What did this do for it? And is something getting ready to go out on me?

If the unit malfunctions and activates a timed lockout mode, turning power off/on cancels lockout, and the unit will attempt to resume normal operation. Better keep an eye on it, the problem will likely return.

Carrier Furnace model 58RAV, downdraft flashes 3-1. Will re-start by touching a restart switch (draft safeguard tube and switch). Happens too frequently. Is a new switch in order? High wind cap on roof seems OK.

Do you literally mean "touching", or pressing/resetting ("click" felt)? If merely touching the switch tab causes normal function, the internal switch contacts may be oxidized. A replacement would be in order. Frequent resetting potentially indicates a bigger problem.

The re-set switch only moves inward about 1/16 inch at the most with no clicking sound.

If this action is restoring function, replace the switch.
