    Various problems
Hi I am a girl who just started high school. I have been having trouble sleeping. I usually takes me two hours to fall asleep. I am usually very tired and or depressed.( cut back eating even hurt myself for fun)( I don't even realise it most of the time.I even have a bad burn scar from it) I now am what my friends are calling preppy. And to me this is a big deal. Recently I have hunted snakes and almost got into a fist fight with a dude who is twice my height and not to mention one of them gang people. I seriously almost hit him hard but was luckly stopped by a girl. The problem I have no common sense when I do this. I mean it didn't even occur that he had three other guys behind him and I was alone. Someone said I was bipolar. Could this be true? Or is it something else? I really need help cause I have school tomorrow and I don't want to get hurt. Yes I did talk to my mom ( she thinks I am crazy and thinks it is a sleeping problem)(could be)

Did you tell your parents about this? They should be the first people to talk about problems with.

Its possible that depression is making you be so careless. Carelessness like you describe can be a passive form of suicide. I know about this from having played what I call "Looking For Mr Goodbar" for quite a few years (that's a dark and gritty book and movie about a seriously depressed woman who is so careless she gets herself killed). Depression often makes it difficult to sleep and messes up appetite too.

Depression is not something to fool around with-- it's a real medical condition that can be relieved by medication and/or therapy but only your doctor can advise what would be best for you. You deserve to live depression-free, to see what you are meant to be like instead of this. Please urge your parents to make an appointment for you as soon as possible. You are worth it!

To fall asleep the body needs Melatonin. This is developed in the brain from the early morning light. Particularly sunlight. Get out into the light early in the morning and don't wear sunglasses at all and you will find your sleep pattern will normalise as the light makes melatnoin and when you get into a dark room you will sleep. The darker the room the better. This is just getting back to our natural processes, looking into the light in the morning and sleeping in the dark. Nothing complicated. No sunglasses. Cheers
