    Transfer of memory
I have HP Pavilion xt853. Power source and cd drive not working. Can't find replacements. How can I transfer all my data to new HP. Can I just switch out memory card? Can I take memory card from old and add to the new one? I have large genealogy files on Old HP. Would like to transfer to new HP.

Not sure what you mean "memory card" - as those are usually used in cameras. I think you mean hard disk drive? If so, your new HP should accommodate a second hard drive where you can access your files.

Thank you Jon. I guess you can tell I know nothing about Computers. My question is . Can I take the old Hard Drive and put in my new computer. And will all my files still be there. If so , can you tell me how to do this? Or maybe a web page I could check out. (Pictures are always helpful :) ) Thank you again. dwdardog
