Is anything actually wrong? It sounds as if POST has been completed successfully and the boot loader is in control. What happens if you select an OS and continue to boot?

Usually if a beep code is present after installing new RAM, the RAM is installed wrong or not compatible and nothing is displayed on the screen. Try taking the RAM out and reinstalling it. Dust or other stuff in the slots can be enough for poor contact. Also, the BIOS may prompt to confirm a configuration change with a couple beeps and request a key press, typically F1, in order to accept the hardware change and continue the boot process.

Or, the RAM isn't seated properly. Remove the RAM and then reinstall it. Make absolutely sure that it's fully seated in the slot.

Unless it's a very old computer, it won't require you to hit <F1> to get into the BIOS to confirm the configuration change.

What do you consider very old?

The screenshot below is from an HP dc7800 that is less than a year old after pulling one of the memory modules. F1 doesn't enter the BIOS, only saves the hardware change.

Windows virtual memory settings are unrelated to whether the board will recognize a particular memory configuration and complete POST.

Kingston's website and the KVR400x64C3A/1G datasheet indicate the modules are double-sided. The Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M Rev. 2x manual on page 10, footnote #1 indicates the board will not support DDR400 with two double-sided modules and will revert to DDR333 if so configured. The Rev. 1x manual doesn't mention a limitation. So, first determine your board revision. Then if board is Rev. 2x, there may be an issue with the board automatically reverting to DDR333 when the double-sided modules are installed or perhaps the BIOS settings have been manually configured for DDR400, etc. Check the BIOS memory configuration.

Sorry, I didn't get notification of your last response on this thread in a timely manner. Board revisions are normally indicated by being silk screened on the board itself, on the original box, or on a sticker on the board. Access to BIOS for that board is by pressing the DEL key during post.

Simple fix: re-seat your sticks. Same thing happened to me and you apparently have to really push hard to get them in. also, make sure first that you have them in the right way - the slot isn't exactly in the middle it's a little off center to help you be sure its in correctly.
