Admiral - washer will not spin, pump out or agitate.
I have an Admiral 2 speed washing machine that I purchased 10 years ago from Montgomery Wards, which is out of business now. The washer will not spin, pump out or agitate.

When I turn the know to spin I hear a low buzzing as it try’s to spin, then a click like an overload breaker popped. After 5 minutes if I try again it repeats this action.

Does this sound like motor or transmission? It’s full of water so I will siphon or hand bail it out, then need to diagnosis the unit. What should I do first once I remove the bake cover?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am very mechanically inclined.

If your washer has a belt, you can remove it and try, if the motor turns, then something locked up in the transmission, if it doesn't, then you know your motor is probobly shot.

I have this same problem with the same symptoms. I first took off the back panel and tipped up the washer to see the belt drive underneath it. I then removed the belt and tried turning the tub, the pump, and also turned on the motor with the dial in the spin position. It appears that the pump is the culprit and is frozen up, and should be a pretty easy fix. New pumps are available online for about $40 and suggest replacing the belt at the same time for $14. Good luck!
