    Darkening my Hair
My hair is naturally dark blonde, and I lightened it to a medium/light blonde about a year ago and have kept it that shade ever since. I thought it would be kind of fun to go darker with my hair, like maybe a light or golden brown, and, being a student, I would like it if I could get an over-the-counter color to avoid the salon prices. However, I'm concerned that since my hair is already color treated, I won't be able to choose the right product to get the shade I want. I thought about trying Loreal Color Zap to strip my color and then go darker, but since my hair has been blonde for a year, will that even work? Or should I just try to color my hair without stripping it? If so, could you recommend the best home coloring brand to try? I would greatly appreciate any advice that anyone can offer--I'm totally clueless about this stuff! Thanks a lot!

You should be able to use a home brand but be sure to strand test! as for brands I use revlon because it is cheap 2 something

But revlon also fades quite quickly

I have heard nice and easy is pretty good but I don't know for sure I've never tried it

Sorry I couldn't be more of a help!

Well first don't go for the dark immediately , it will take awhile, so here's what u do; first dye it in between the two colors (the blond now/darker u want) so like a med Bernete than don't use shampoo for two to three days after the kit and two weeks from when the color kit was done u can dye it the dark color u want. And the first shampoo after the 3 days is up for the last kit use a hot oil treatment - u can find in just about any store (its a hair repair)

O and the revlon colorsilk work great on natral blond hair - it's a cheeper brand but it works better than the $20.00 + kits (its only like 3$ here)

Aubs, brown hair color has a lot of blue/green hidden in it. Therefore, blue/green on yellow hair will look green. You will have to do a 2 step coloring process. Hair goes through stages of lightening, which goes brown to red to orange to yellow. Since you want to go darker, you want to reverse the process by going from yellow to red to brown. It's best to dye your hair with a red base first. Once the hair is red/ginger, apply a warm golden brown color over your hair.
