    Shower drain and floor
We are getting our shower floor and drain replaced, and have a problem with the installation. The plumber installed a new drain, but the person who was going to lay the mud floor, said that the drain was not secured. The plumber says that the liner can be cut, the drain secured, and a patch put on the liner. Is this a good solution, or should I insist that the liner be removed, the drain secured and a new liner be put in?

    Hey Donald,

The flange type shower drain should be be openend up and a new shower pan installed. The plumber is gamboling that a patch will hold up over the years. However he's not only gamboling his labor but also the tile mans labor and material but also the money you have already invested. Bottom line?
Shower pans should never be patched. They should all be one piece.
    Good luck, Tom
