    My wife is Pregnant
My wife took a test this morning and it came up positive. She bought a few and plans to take another today just to make sure. She talked to the OBGYN and they said to come for an appointment in three weeks.

My question is if she takes two of the EPT tests that are supposedly 99% accurate should we still have a blood test done just to make absolutely sure? I am going crazy right now and I just want to tell someone but I am worried that something might happen or she might have gotten a false positive. Are those tests really as accurate as they say they are?

    Yes.

False positives aren't likely but they do happen.

False negatives happen more often then false positives (most often because there isn't enough of the hormone to read)

The doctor could be checking for more than just to see if she's a few weeks pregnant. The blood test will be more accurate.

One of my friends took 5 home pregnancy tests. I thought it was a waste of money. I guess to each her own, but after a positive, I would just go to the doctor to make sure if she's just going to take the same test again.

Some doctors will take the home test results, many will do a urine test in the office to confirm, and some may go ahead with a blood test. When they do a pelvic exam, often they can confirm from that as well.

I am pretty convinced after seeing two positive tests. Also she has some symptoms and the Dr said those tests were pretty good. If it is a false positive we will find out in three weeks when they do an ultra-sound
