    Which field of study?
I want to be a Spanish professor one day. In my postgraduate studies, would it be wiser to study Spanish linguistics or Spanish literature? I enjoy both subjects, but I am unsure about which would be more desired by a university later.

Definitely literature. In fact, you'll likely end up in a Romance Studies department. But, unless you want to teach language classes and not much else, you want a PhD in literature/history.
