    Timing belt
I think it may be my timing belt. I have a 92 honda accord ex. The other day I was driving home and my yellow light came on, I looked it up in my manual and it said it was an emission light. But the car continued to run OK. So I drove it home, about 20 miles and it ran fine. The other day I went to start it and it didn't want to start, as if the timing was way off. But then it did start and seemed to idle OK however any rev above 3500rpm and it really starts cutting out. While it is first trying to start it backfires slightly out of the exhaust. The car has 175 thousand miles and the timing belt was last changed about 77 thousand miles ago. Any thoughts. Thanks

The yellow light that came on may be the computer fault light. Does the light say PGM or have a picture of an engine within it. If so it came on because the vehicles computer has detected a fault within the vehicles fuel delivery system. The backfiring and other symptons are a result of missing information to the computer. As for the timing belt, given the mileage, it is due for replacement. If the light in question is the fault light, I would suggest having the vehicle looked at by a qualified repair center to diagnose the problem as operating the engine under the described conditions may lead to unnecessary and costly repairs
