Well, first of all since they have more people looking for jobs than jobs, they can be picky. Really I have been there myself, and I know exactly what you are talking about. My best advice for you is to keep trying, sooner or later you will get a job.

    Good luck!

So are you primarily looking for general labor work like restaurants, stores, hotels,

Job fairs were always a waste of time for me.
What state do you live in?

Do you have temporary labor places like manpower or labor ready?

Have you checked places like monster.com and local internet job placements?

Speel is right. The job market is the worst it's been in 15 years. The rejection can be very depressing, but you have to keep going.

I'm still curious to know more about your situation, but I am guessing you are in your teens. If so, do any of your friends have jobs? Ask them to ask their employers if you can meet with them. Do your parents have friends that could give you some kind of work? Unfortunately, in these economic times, it will be a huge advantage if you can go one of these routes.
