    Bamboo Intrusion
Does anyone know a sure way to kill bamboo? My neighbor planted bamboo in his back yard and now the roots have come under the fence and threaten to eat up my yard. How about drilling a hole in the stumps and filling it with Round-Up? Any suggestions? Thanks, speedball1

Roundup did not work for us. Bamboo really sucks, it takes control of EVERYTHING!!

What we finally did was cut it down and continue to mow over it. Once growth began, out came the lawnmower. So far no bamboo this summer.

My chemisty professor said that you can cover it in rock salt. The sodium in the salt will soak out all moisture in the plant and dry it out. We did not try this as our bamboo patch was WAY too large. But it might be worth a try.

Use weed killer in high dose, but it will kill everything else near by. A barrier at least 24 in deep, or chop off the new shoot everyweek...
