:confused: I wanted to know if anyone knew about people hacking in computers... you see I had pictures of my social security and birth certificate and other important documents in my computer and then my brother told me not to do that cause people from the internet can find it and then they can steal my idenity. I took it off but now I am so paranoid and I don't know if it is true or not, can people really do that??

Simple answer - yes.

That is not a case of hacking though. What could happen is that a person could write a bit of spyware/malware that gets on your PC and then sends any documents etc. it finds to an email address. If you have that kind of information, it could pick it up and send it off.

You will be safe though as long as you run a virus scanner and a firewall, scan for spyware regularly and just never open emails unless you know they are safe.
