    Smith & Wessen Handgun
My father passed away and left me a Smith & Wessen pearl handled handgun. I do not know anything about guns, but would like to know more about this one. It looks like a german style with no hammer. On the top of the barrel it has "Smith & Wessen Springfield, Mass U.S.A. Pat'd May 11 80, Oct 2 83 Aug 4 85 Act 11 87 Feb 14 88 Apr 9 89 June 3 90. My husband and I can not find any other numbers any where on the gun. Can someone tell us when it was manufacturered and any idea of worth?

Sounds like it could be a S&W police special .38 cal 2 inch barrel. They are called hammerless. Fairly inexpensive as far as guns go. Pearl handles were probably an option.
