    Pre-Algebra Equations


    Please help with this Word Problem I need help in writing and solving the equation:

    You and your friend spent a total of $15 for lunch. Your friend's lunch cost $3 more than yours did. How much did you spend for lunch?

    Assign Y as the amount you spent for lunch and F as the amount your friend paid for lunch and write two equations and solve.

    Any ideas?

    Well we should put the 15 dollars apart we should find how much did u spend so first lest find out how much your friend spend so the problem say that there amount was that the friend money cost 3 dollars more then yours so the answers is correct that u add 6 +9 and the answer is 15
