    Goodman furnace issue
Had a Goodman furnace model # GM 80903 BN installed a year ago, right from the start, the problem started with the burner not igniting when the blower moter is running continuously. I have to have the motor running continuously for the particular model of air-cleaner I have to work properly. So when the temp. drops the blower motor is running but the burner does not come on. When I have the thermostat switch set on "auto" the furnace switches on and off properly in accordance with the temp. setting.
The contractor says its not to do with the new therma-stat that was installed with the furnace, they have adjusted the gas flow and checked gas pressures levels and say it is o.k. but still problem goes on. Now they won't do anything more.
Can anyone suggest anything so I don't have to get up every 2 hours all night long to turn the heat on.

If the HVAC company could not find the problem I do not think you will. If they installed the furnace and thermostat they are responsible to make sure it operates in all phases of thermostat selection.

What is the brand and exact model of thermostat you have?

Then I need to know the locations and colors of the wires mounted to the thermostat. NOTE you may have to remove the front of the thermostat off the wall to get the info.

    Thanks... the thermo-stat is a "White-Rogers" type #1F80-361 class 2 8-30 volts 50/60HZ

The wiring is as follows: There are 2 connection boxes one box on the side and one on the bottom of the thermostat.

The side connection consists of 4 terminals they are W- RH - B - RC. The "W" has a White wire connected to it. The "RH" has a Red wire connected. The "B" has nothing and the RC also has a Red wire connected.

The bottom terminal consists of 4 terminals as well.
    They are C - G - O - Y. The "C" has nothing , The "G" has a Green wire connected , The "O" has nothing and the "B" has a Black wire connected .

    Will await further instructions

    Thanks again...

I read through that page, it makes sense, but it is not the same model that mine is... I did find the page on their site for my model.

The wire diagram it shows is how mine is wired. It does not say anything about having to change the jumper wire from the factory setting.

I have sent an e-mail to White-Rogers asking if there may be any relationship between what they say about that model and mine, and I explained my problem.

My guess is though, they are going to say that since the thermostat cycles when its on "auto" but does not cycle when its on "on" then the problem goes back to the furnace. l-o-l...

The only other thing I can think of is that it does say the programing for the A/C is preset in the thermostat , and when the furnace is running for A/C whether it be on "ON" or "AUTO" it works fine. So whatever that setting is, maybe they could tell me how to match that setting.

    Anyway... thanks for your help.

As far as the blower running when the thermostat is set to fan ON the only thing the thermostat does is send a signal down the green wire to the furnace to activate the blower relay. The circuit is actually very simple.

Also repost the correct model of your indoor furnace. The number you posted is not listed in any of my Goodman/Janitrol books or on the Goodman web site. The number you posted is not close to any I can find.

I have transposed your number to GMH8903BN. This number still is possibly missing some letters on the end. Here is a complete manual for that furnace and a few others all contained in one file. It will take a while to download and I suggest you keep a copy on your computer.

It shows different units and how the wiring is different. There are 131 pages of info here and if you read you may find out what your problem is.
