    Grass stops growing usually after first hard frost or when temps fall into the 40's. Usually you give it one last mowing after a killing frost to neaten things up, or you can still run over it with the blade set high to mulch your leaves.

    Also stop mowing when the grass stops growing. This is normally when it goes dormant in mid to late fall for winter.
