My vendor went out of business. Now their vendor is trying to collect
    First time asker.

My vendor was a freight broker and went out of business. The trucking company that my vendor hired is now trying to collect payment from me. I have no problem paying the trucking company but I am concerned that my vendor may try to collect. The bill is 120+ days outstanding and have never received a bill. I made attempts to contact my vendor but was unsuccessful. The trucking company provided all the necessary back up (Bill of Lading).

If I pay the trucking company, will I release my liability to the freight broker?

You need to have your attorney write up a contract that payment to them will make them liable to pay the vendor if they come to collect. Also of course the vendor share of the payment should not be owed since they would have been paid form the money
