    G4 visa, Form 1040NR
    Hello,

I work for an international organization which is income tax exempt. I am french, living in the US and hold a G4 visa. The IRS asked for my 1040 form that I did not fill because I thought that if you have a G4 visa you don't pay income tax therefore you don't need to fill any IRS form.
    - Is that correct or I do need to fill the 1040NR form?
    - If I have to fill the 1040 NR form, I will still don't pay tax because of my G4 visa?
    - The form looks complicated, where can I find someone who already filled this form?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The G-4 visa is nonimmigrant visa which allows foreign officers or employees of international organizations of any rank to enter into the U.S. to engage in business activities and not for personal business and pleasure. You don't have to pay income tax while on G status as you work for international organizations such as the World Bank.

If you have received letter from IRS, call them and tell them about your G4 visa.

Thanks.. But I still need to fill the 1040NR form to prove that I am a non resident alien and should not pay tax?
The IRS sent me a letter saying they need the 1040 form otherwise I need to pay a mentioned amout of money. I already sent to them in May a copy of my visa and a copy of the document proving that my organization is a an international organization and their employee are income tax exempt.
    Thanks

You will probably need to file Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ PLUS a Form 8833 to present your argument as to why you are exempt from U.S. income taxes under provision of the France-U.S. Tax Treaty.
