    What is esters?
    Can someone explain me what exactly an :confused: :confused: is. and how are they formed. :confused: :confused:

    Esters form part of organic families. I think that most of them have some perfume, or some stench. They are formed, in the laboratory, by reacting an alcohol with a carboxilic acid. The most common produced at school, I think, is ethyl ethanoate. This is obtained by reacting ethanol (the alcohol) and ethanoic acid (the carboxilic acid) and under reflux, to prevent escape of volatile vapours.
