Would quitclaim relieve me from total ownership of the house?
I own property in CAL before my marriage. It seems that I am headed to a divorce. I know that property owned before marriage should not be included as part of settlement in divorce. However, I would like to know if I use quitclaim to transfer the deed to one of my relatives would totally relieve me from ownership of the house and guarantee that this property will not be part of the divorce conflict.

    Thanks.

It will probably be seen as exactly what it is... hiding assets. That can get you into trouble. And, of course, once you do that, what makes you sure that the relative would be willing to deed the house back to you? Or do you plan to divest yourself of the property for good?
