What funds are exempt from garnishment?
My bank account was frozen pending garnishment from a debt collector today. The only funds in the accont were proceeds from my husbands federal student loans. Are these funds exempt in AL? What can I do to get them back?

You may need to file an answer or traverse to the garnishment; this may be something you can do without an attorney, but not sure. What state?

Not sure about this one,Maybe some of our experts can answer this. I am thinking only Social Security is exempt from garnishment from a debt collector. Is the debt yours or is it a debt in both names? The only way a garnishment or levy on a bank account can happen is if there was a court order from a judgement
