Clinical Psych.: Disorder or Not?
I just recently saw a counselor for many sessions of insight-oriented/analytic therapy and then decided to have a psych eval, so the results were in the report as following:
Averages for all other measures, including iq (90 - 110).
Low-average:
- perceptual abilities - visual consepts & spatial visiualization, and combination of visual-spatial information.
- auditory & short-term memory
- sequencing ability & immediate rote recall
- transcribe symbols, code & match symbols (timed)
- listening comprehension
Significatly low-average:
- reading comprehension
- math reasoning
- non-verbal abilities compromised - rigid, hard time adjusting & others' thoughts & opinions.
- verbal-reasoning - difficulty organizing, creating structure & guidelines.
- limited interpersonal skills - unable to productively communicate with others, don't understand non-verbal cues.
- coping skills deficits - easily overwhelmed, chronic stimulus overload & difficulty tolerating frustration.
- something that I came up with as possible causes to look at:
- asperger's
- non-verbal learning disabilities (NVLD)
- ~ 70-80% environmental factors - less than ideal all-around conditions (I do see some of my faults on my mom's side so there is at least 20-30% that I attribute to genetics).
So, I wonder if anyone with psych background has any good opinions or ideas if my personal assumption's are fairly accurate? Just wanting to get some feedback and expend my understanding, because that would be great.
