Unfortunately they can charge what ever they want to, I live in alberta and the landlord is allowed to raise the rent 300$ a year every 6 months, so it may vary where you are but I'm sure its along the same guildlines... 649$ per month is great compaired to here

Cost of living is different in different areas, so you can really compare rent rates. If I was living somewhere where the rent was raised $300 every year I'd be out of there so quick.

Have you ever thought that if your dog maybe got off her butt, got a job of her own, if you didn't have to pay all of her support/food/Vet bills/clothes you could live in a palace?:D

I keep singing, "Get a job" but my dogs are NOT paying attention.

So sorry to hear that CM...

Unfortunately, the posters are right... they can change the lease and charge you $500 more if they wanted to. It's sad, but... they can.

If it makes you feel any better... my current rent is at $1260... and that does NOT include water, heating, cable, internet, or the trash valet (yes... we get charged for someone to come to my door and pick up my trash... and it's NOT optional). The prices in atlanta go up by about 100 a year... so... yeah.

My rent only includes rent. I pay heat, electric, water, sewer, garbage, cell, car insurance, internet, cable, gym membership, and well; I could go on and on...

Because "the man" is against you.

... and... due to inflation, costs, etc.

... and, because... well, if you were an apartment owner... what would you do to benefit the most? You hook them with a low rent for one year, and then raise it the next year... they can't leave... it costs too much to leave. Right?

I would make it a great place to live, and THEN raise the rent, so they wouldn't WANT to leave.

Lol, well thanks. And the worst part is that I fell in love with an apartment, and it's $610 a month. Beautiful! Even a gas fireplace with a remote. Nice. But the move in is too much.
