    Hampton bay 560-084 ceiling fan
I just bought hampton bay Gawyck 54" ceiling fan model 560-084. Where is the blade direction switch? Also what do I do to operate the thing when the remote breaks or is lost etc... this is stupid not to have manual chains in case the remote doesn't work!

When the remote breaks you buy another remote. Remote fans suck.

As for your other question, I couldn't find that model online. Did you spell the name correctly?

Usually, not always but usually it's a slide switch found on the motor housing that reverses blade direction. And yes, you can buy replacement remotes and sensors.
