When it comes to temperature I just go with it's hot or it's cold out. Forget the calculating Celsius into Fahrenheit! When it comes to conversion of gas from litres to gallons, no matter how you look at it it's just plain old EXPENSIVE! When I go grocery shopping, I ask the butcher for the meat in pounds and let HIM do the conversion!:D

"Just wait until your Father gets home!"

Making sure to get your homework done before The Cosby Show came on.

I was born six months before the 80's so... technically... :)

And I remember them all... I miss streetlights... and banana seats...

Banana Seats... lol Chicky, I had forgotten about those!

How about going to the drive-in with your friends, and a trunk load of people! You had to attach the speaker to the window, and half the time you would forget and drive away and rip the speaker right off the stand. (no wonder they closed down the drive-ins, no one liked to go watch silent movies, lol)

Raiding the neighborhood gardens, and being so scared we would get caught, and get grounded.

Everyone having to be home at 6pm sharp and at the dinner table. (something that doesn't happen too much anymore)

We had to have a temperature of 102 or be on fire to get out of going to school! LOL! The very few times that we did skip school, our parents new about it within the hour, and called out the possey to look for us.

Sneaking one beer to share between six of us, when Mom and Dad had a party (and we drank it through a straw)

Never having a TV in our bedrooms, and have about 10 channels, and actually having to get up to switch the channel if we wanted to watch something else!

... Gee have I given away my age? :p

Aww... that is SO true! All of it! :) We grew up in a different world...

    Drive ins... awesome...

Although... after watching Dawson's Creek (yes, I did), I would love to make a Dive In somewhere around here... wouldn't it be awesome? A "drive-in" on the beach... only its out on pylons in the water... You could sit on the beach, or bring the boat, the jet-ski...

    Sweeeeeeet... :)

You all are making me miss the good old days. I have to admit, my kids have everythings, both have tv's and computers, they're 9 and 5.

Kids, go outside, don't come back till it's dark, no TV today! Oh, don't talk to strangers, and if one approaches you, come tell me or daddy, I've got the shot gun ready and loaded! :)

Cred, I'm not American, actually I'm German but I live in Canada, also, not Chrstian either, so you're wrong on both counts.

As for my comment about the shot gun, jeesh, can't you take a joke? Guess not.

Did you miss me so much that you had to follow me here? Hmmmm, interesting. :D

Love the one where the parents sided with the law. I grew up in a house where letting my parents down was worse then getting a spanking. And saying "I hate my mom or dad" never even crossed my mind, not matter how mad I got...

    I second that emotion!

You know, for someone who accuses others of making incorrect assumptions, you are not doing so bad yourself there, Credendovidis..

Starby, how about a roundish TV screen, in black and white only.. got you there by a few years didn't I..

There is one place that still reminds me of those good ole days, and that is the Kullmann's Diner. Gosh, they make the best hambugers and ribs! They are in the old style too, so much so that their bar chairs get stolen as novelties today.

This is as close as I got, but their furniture is bright RED! Talk about nostalgia-ville.

Chery, KP's pants are in my closet. ;):)

That reminds me of another thing when we where kids. I had two pairs of pants, no more than that. My mom always made sure they were clean, but I didn't get a new pair until I'd outgrown the ones I had, even then most times they were made into shorts, a skirt or something else. Nowadays kids have $50.00 jeans and most time they have 10 pairs or more. I don't have $50.00 jeans! ;)

My 9 year old asked me yesterday if he could have a cell phone for his 10th birthday. No way! But I do see kids younger than mine that do have cell phones. We didn't have them and we got along just fine. What happened to kids earning their privileges?

I hear you, Alty! About the earning privileges thing... I had to earn the right to have a cell phone... and didn't get one until 16, when I got my first car! And that was only because Mom wanted to know where I was at all times.

Although, your jeans thing reminded me of my favorite pair of jeans when I was a kid... they were leapord print... funny... I don't have anything leapord print today...

... oh wait... OK, maybe a few things... :D ;)

We didn't have cell phones when I was 16, thanks for making me feel old HC. ;)

My favorite pair of jeans were electric blue with a clown on the pocket. Hey, they were cool! :) I cried the day they stopped fitting, couldn't find another pair to replace them. :(

How come I can so invision you in leopard print? ;)
